all set for Italy!
Spain takes on Italy tonight in a friendly at the Vicente Calderón (Madrid) at 22h. There are several things of note about this game. It is the last time La Roja is together before the concentración for the World Cup begins on May 26, the game will serve as a tribute to the late and great Luis Aragonés and as the stage for the debut of the new black jerseys, and of course this will be the first time we see Diego Costa in the shirt of Spain. All eyes have been on him the entire week, although I have to admit mine were focused on Azpi’s dimples instead!

all set for Brazil!
Spain will be taking on Brazil in the final of the Confecup (Monday, 00h) after beating Italy following an agonizing penalty shootout that luckily had a happy ending.

all set for Tahiti!
I won’t get around to La Rojita’s campeones post until later this week, so in the meantime, here’s one on La Roja, who takes on Tahiti today (21h) at the legendary Maracanã in Rio in their second game of the Confederations Cup.

all set for Uruguay!
Spain takes on Uruguay tonight, or rather, early early tomorrow morning (00h Spain time), in the opening game for La Roja in the Confederations Cup, which as we’re reminded every five minutes, is the only cup we don’t have in our trophy cabinet. So let’s go and win this cup!
Do you think Pepe said yes? And how was Iker planning on getting the ring over the glove?
ready for the Confecup?
The boys all looked very happy to be back together again, and we are also happy to have our team back together again, no?
Let’s go win that Confecup!

¡feliz navidad!
¡Feliz navidad y próspero año nuevo! I hope 2013 brings World Cup qualification and the Confederations Cup to La Roja, and on an individual basis, I’d love to see Carles Puyol and Sergio Ramos reach their 100th caps with Spain!
(Fingers crossed that the Reyes Magos are bringing me Xabi Alonso this year…)
