  1. So the nail-biting is over, and the list is here! Amazing. So, if I’ve got this right, 16/23 of these players are now four years older (and a bunch of them 8 years older…) since their first world cup- but a quick guesstimate of this team’s average age is rather normal for clubs, isn’t it?

Really pleased to hear Torres is in the final squad, and happy he was able to score in yesterday’s friendly to boost confidence (his and all of ours). Surprised and excited!!!

    Thanks, Una!!!

    • PS- but objectively (ie non-FT9 fan perspective), it’s rather shocking that Negredo and Navas have been dropped. Del Bosque really has faith in Fernando.

Una, I haven’t kept up with Javi Martinez but I remember he’s been featured quite a lot on here ;) I know he’s been successful in Germany, so it’s not a surprise, but hope you’re pleased with the picks!

The average age of the team is 27.8 years, which isn’t too bad.

By the way, Iker and Xavi are holdovers from the 2002 World Cup squad, making them 12 years older!
