Vicente del Bosque has announced the list of players called up for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Belarus (Oct. 11, Palma de Mallorca) and Georgia (Oct. 15, Albacete).

Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, Pepe Reina, Víctor Valdés.

Defenders: Álvaro Arbeloa, Juanfran Torres, Gerard Piqué, Raúl Albiol,* Sergio Ramos, Nacho Monreal, Alberto Moreno, Iñigo Martínez.

Midfielders: Sergio Busquets, Mario Suárez, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Koke Resurrección, Isco Alarcón, Jesús Navas, Cesc Fàbregas, Juan Mata, David Silva.

*Raúl Albiol has a right thigh injury and VDB called up Iñigo Martínez as a replacement.  David Villa is also injured and has been replaced by Michu (in his first ever call-up).

This is Alberto’s first call-up after several stellar appearances with the U-21 team, while Juanfran and Juan Mata are returning after being absent from the last several call-ups.

Unfortunately, I don’t have time to cover these games, but I will of course be cheering for La Roja. ¡Vamos!

Meanwhile, Julen Lopetegui’s list for the U-21 team’s 2015 Euro qualifiers against Bosnia (Oct. 10, Murcia) and Hungary (Oct. 14, Cartegena) is as follows.

Goalkeepers: Fernando Pacheco, Dani Sostres.

Defenders: Sergi Gómez, Dani Carvajal, Jordi Amat, Javier Manquillo, Pablo Íñiguez.

Midfielders: Suso Fernández, Óliver Torres, Sergi Roberto, Carles Gil, Gerard Deulofeu, Pablo Sarabia, Rubén Pardo, Saúl Ñíguez, José Campaña, Juan Bernat.

Forwards: Iker Muniain, Jesé Rodríguez, Álvaro Morata.

This is first call-up to the U-21 team for both José Campaña and Pablo Íñiguez.

  1. I don’t think that anyone should worry about being left off the list last time. It looks like Del Bosque considers these to be more critical qualifiers and is bringing in all of the big guns. Vamos!
