more La Rojita to look forward to this summer
A couple of pieces of news:
ONE. Seven of our players have been named to the all-star team chosen by UEFA at the conclusion of the U-21 Euro. They are David de Gea, Dídac Vilà, Ander Herrera, Javi Martínez (!!!), Thiago Alcántara, Adrián López and Juan Mata.
TWO. Twitter was the site of this adorable conversation yesterday between Cote, Iker Muniain and Ander Herrera.
José Ángel started things out by tweeting, “what a great afternoon today in Luanco (Asturias), which is the most beautiful place!”
That prompted Iker to tweet back, “you, you’re the most beautiful, guajeeee.”
Cote then replied, “we should keep that thing about being beautiful private, I don’t want anyone to know how beautiful we are!”
At this point, Ander chimed in with, “I miss you all! Perhaps tomorrow I’ll show up in Roces!” [Roces is the neighborhood of Gijón where Cote grew up.]
Cote responded to Ander, “you already know that I’d welcome you with open arms, a hug phenomenon!”
Adorable, no? I also love that they miss each other! Hopefully they’ll all be reunited sometime soon!
THREE. The RFEF has released the list of players called up for the U-20 World Cup, to be held in Colombia from July 29 to Aug. 20. Martín Montoya is the only U-21 player participating. The players will begin their concentración at Las Rozas on July 16, and will leave for Manizales, Colombia on July 19. They’ll first play a friendly in Lima before returning to Manizales. In the group stage, they’ll play Costa Rica on July 31, Ecuador on Aug. 3 and Australia on Aug. 6.
