the list for the Czech Republic & Lithuania

Vicente del Bosque announced the list of players called up for next week’s Euro 2012 qualifiers against the Czech Republic (Granada, March 25) and Lithuania (Kaunas, March 29).

It looks like the maxim the RFEF lives by, “the priority whenever there is something at play is always the senior team,” as the team had to cover the losses of Pedrito and Cesc, and did so by calling up Javitxu (!!!) and Juanín.  Andoni Iraola was also called up to replace Carles Puyol.  Other than that, there were no surprises and the team is probably the one we will see up to and during the Euro tournament.

Goalkeepers: Iker, Pepe, Valdés.

Defenders: Arbeloa, Albiol, Sergio Ramos, Capdevila, Marchena, Piqué, Iraola.

Midfielders: Xavi, Ineista, Busquets, Xabi, Cazorla, Javi (!!!) Martínez, Silva, Navas, Mata.

Forwards: Villa, Torres, Llorente.

The players are expected at Las Rozas on Tuesday, March 22.

Meanwhile, Luis Milla revealed his list for the U-21’s friendly against Belarus (March 28, Alcalá de Henares) a bit later on.  The names in bold are additions with respect to the last list, and of course Juan Mata and Javi (!!!) Martínez will be joining the big boys, as stated above.

Goalkeepers: David de Gea, Rubén Miño.

Defenders: Mikel San José, Álvaro Domínguez, Martín Montoya, Andreu Fontàs, Dídac Vilà, Alberto Botia.

Midfielders: Thiago Alcántara, Rubén Pérez, Dani Parejo, Diego Capel, Ander Herrera, Emilio Nsue, Jonathan Riera, Jordi Alba.

Forwards: Iker Muniain, Bojan Krkic, Adrián López Álvarez.

  1. Wooo, Javitxu (!!!)!! (And Juanín, of course!) Also I am excited for Ikinho on the U21 again, and for the addition of yet another Basque to the senior team! Let’s hope there’s stories about his integration being facilitated by Fer and Javi(!!!) :-D

    • Ikinho? why “-inho”? is there something Portuguese/Brazilian about him? just curious ;)

      • Ha, as far as I know, there is nothing Portuguese or Brazilian about Iker! “Ikinho” is something that Javi calls him, as per this tweet:

I suspect -inho refers both to his small size and as a parallel to other “fenómenos” like Ronaldinho.

      • Oops, sorry, please read my typo “Javi” as “Javi (!!!)”!

  2. I’m going to see all of them in Kaunas!
And can I find any kind of information about when are they going to come or where are they going to stay? Any “stalker’s guide”? I would love to meet them all at the airport! xD

  3. I’m annoyed Canales isn’t getting called up :/

  4. It’s just as I told you yesterday – Javi’s a big boy and is called up to the big boys’ team!! ;) Hope he takes part in the matches and demonstrates brilliance on the field!!

  5. i know puyi has been out for quite a while, but i don’t follow arsenal at all — is cesc injured? :(

    • yeah, he’s been injured for the past 3 weeks (picked up a knock during a game in England, and made it worse when he played in the CL 2nd leg).

    • Cesc injured himself during Arsenal’s match against FC Barcelona….. But something tells me he doesn’t recover 100% and he get re injured easily … because … I can’t believe that he can get injured sooo much!!! … poooor Cesc …. & yea PUyi has been out for sooo long….

    • Cesc has was injured at the end of February, came back for Arsenal/Barcelona last week in CL, and injured himself again, unfortunately.

  6. also, una, do you know if there is a reason why Y(our)FC wasn’t called up anywhere?

  7. does anyone know what time the games are?
