Vicente del Bosque has announced the list of players that he’ll be taking with him for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Lithuania and Scotland on Oct. 8 and Oct. 12, respectively. All are familiar faces, and there was one surprising exclusion: Xavi. It appears that Xavi has tendonitis, so after talking with the coach and his club, they decided that he would not join the team. Cesc and Albiol have also been substituted by Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal, respectively, due to their injuries. Meanwhile, Javi Martínez and Juan Mata will continue to play with the U-21 team.
