the hair awards

Remember Ramiro Fernández, the unofficial official barber of the national team?  Marca, once again showing how much of a serious paper they are, decided to get his opinion on the hairstyles of each of the players!  We also find out a little about what went on behind the scenes, hair version, so I won’t complain too much about the newspaper!

For example, he cut the hair of 19 of the players before the Germany came, and was surprised by how unified they were.  Ramiro says they were “una piña.”  And that the players are up to date with the latest trends, styles, fashions, and they made him work hard.  Ramiro says he recommended to Andresito that he should grow his hair out a little, because having an almost shaved head made him look older, but when he scored that goal, all he could do was shut up.  Ramiro compares Fernando Torres to Apollo, and says Sergio Ramos is most knowledgeable when it comes to coordinating his hairstyle, clothes, body and personality [I would say that Sergio might be the most concerned about this, but he still might need a bit of help in that area].  Ramiro adds that the cornrows looked good on Sergio, and says that Puyol’s hair gives him strength and that he would never touch it.  As for Iker, Ramiro has this to say:  the beard made him stand out.  He got tired of having it and he shaved, but it grew back quickly.

Read on to see Ramiro’s opinion on each player!

Piqué: a perfect harmony between his haircut and his beard does not exist.

Marchena: he’s not very concerned about his hairstyle.  He likes it short and loose.

Albiol: he has a magnificent head of hair, and a very thick beard.

Iker: he realized that he looked better without the beard.

Puyol: if we cut his hair, we would chip away at his winner image.

Iniesta: having such a shaven head takes away from this image of an extraordinary footballer.

Villa: he’s a perfectionist, and his sideburns have to be perfect.

Xavi: his hairstyle is similar to the one worn by Cristiano Ronaldo

Torres: he’s handsome and needed to shape up his hair.

Pepe & Valdés: they’re very comfortable with their shaved heads.  Reina has an extraordinary sense of humor.

Cesc: he has a very European style that goes well with his beard and his haircut.

Capdevila: his half short, half long style is almost Italian, and he styles his hair with his hands.

Mata: he changes his hair depending on his mood.

Xabi: he’s not fussy, he just wants to be comfortable.

Sergio: he knows how to combine his body, clothes and personality perfectly.

Pedro: he favors a classic look, but he’s one of those footballers who will renew his style now that he’s a world champion.

Arbeloa:  the most classic of the defenders.  His hairstyle is nothing innovative.

Llorente: the merits of his hairstyle are not due to me, but to the hair itself.

Busquets: he will change his hairstyle after winning the World Cup.

Javi: a magnificent head of hair with trendy sideburns.

Silva: he has a magnificent head of hair that helps him to stand out.  What he has now is what he is most satisfied with.

Navas: I couldn’t do anything to make him update his style.

  1. Haha, SO true about Iker, Nando and Pepe! Though Iker is beautiful anyway, beard or no- not having the beard just shows off his jawline and chin more.

  2. If Puyol cuts his hair will he lose his strength, like Samson?

  3. hey, have you seen this?!
Just wanna share, this is funny.. I don’t know how they do it..

  4. I don’t care what anyone says, I think Iker looks smokin hot with the beard. I’m even a fan of Xabi’s gingerbeard. I think I’m just a beard person in general.

  5. LOL LOl LOL fricking amazing Una thanks for posting!

  6. He compared Xavi and C.Ronaldo ! OMG !

  7. i wonder what he’ll say after Javi dyed his hair pink like he promised (which i doubt will happen anyway).
and i agree with him about Silva. I always love his haircut X) his latest one is so nice!
