day 33 – we did it

June 25, 2010.
Well, we did it, and now we only have four games left on our quest to lift up the World Cup.
So quick game summary: Spain beat Chile 2-1 while wearing dark blue shirts and white shorts behind goals from Villa and Iniesta. Villa is now tied for pichichi of the tournament with his La Liga pichichi rival Pipita, and Ineista was named man of the match. Villa is now also the top goalscorer of all time for Spain in World Cups. Piqué DID NOT get injured during the game and DID NOT require any stitches. Xabi sustained an ankle injury but doctors are optimistic he’ll be ready for the next game. Fernando Torres left the game with a calf injury. Javi Martínez made his World Cup debut, not bad for someone whose first call-up was for this World Cup.
Oh, and a lot of the players exchanged shirts after the games, but since it was so cold, the majority were wearing another layer underneath. Boooo.
Since we won the group, that means we get the privilege of meeting Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal on Tuesday, June 29, at 20:30h in Cape Town for the battle of Iberia, as I’m calling it. Let’s hope that day goes down in Spanish history once again.
(I was denied seeing Cristiano and Kaká play against each other, so this is nice, seeing Cristiano face off against Iker, Sergio and co. I can’t wait to see the pre-game handshake/hugs, and the post-game shirt exchange.)
The squad returned to Potch after the game and will have today off until 18h.

so good that they won! and so good Pique wasn’t suprised by anything, but he helped a litle bit Chile to score a goal.
I do believe Spanish players will make cristiano naked&cry!
and i hope Xabi will recovery for Tuesday,
You did not really miss anything by not watching the Portugal/Brazil match. Wow, that was boring! I’m glad Spain finished on top of the group to avoid Brazil in the next match, though.
