day 2 – charity, acrobatics and friends

May 25, 2010.

Day 2 of La Roja’s march towards South Africa saw two training sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Training sessions

Raúl (González) came to the Ciudad del Fútbol for the second day in a row, and attended the afternoon session.  He kept a low profile and watched alongside his great friend and former teammate Fernando Hierro.

Among the things he may have seen:

– the camaraderie between the players.

– two bald goalkeepers.  Hopefully Iker won’t follow this trend?

– the amazing Sergio.  Now we know why his abs are so impressive.  And how nice that his shoes match his shirt.

Charity acts

Shortly before the afternoon session, the players received a visit from a group of disabled Sierra Leonese (is that the correct term?) kids.  Iker got into the middle of things, while Cesc and his beard were the most sought-after.

Press conference

Puyol, Javi and Pedro were tasked with speaking to the press during day 2.  Javi has a dreamy look, no?

Lions

– RTVE interviewed the two Athletic players on the national team, Javi Martínez and Fernando Llorente (both have super cute smiles).  This is what we learned: their Athletic teammates were very happy with their call-ups, and one of their teammates even cried a little upon hearing the news.  Fernando got the news as he was having lunch in Bilbao.  Javi reveals this his idol as a kid was Fernando Torres!  Fernando is only four years older than Javi, but how old this must make him feel!  Meanwhile, if Fernando could sign any player for la selección, he would choose Messi.  Watch the video here.
